Soul Remembering and Healing
Soul loss due to trauma is little understood—and often unacknowledged—by western therapeutic traditions. I was inspired to write this blog about soul remembering and healing because there is so much need. The more we become aware of issues of the soul, and normalize our perception of soul loss, the more we can heal ourselves, our family constellations,
and our world. Read more...
Here's an ancient Irish poem to inspire your day:
“I arise today through the strength of heaven; light of sun, radiance of moon, splendor of fire, speed of lightning, swiftness of wind, depth of sea, stability of earth, firmness of rock.”
Aligning Your Rhythms with Phases of the Moon
Moon is a wonderful companion, present
every night of your life. Cycling between waxing, full, waning, and dark (absent from view), she offers you nightly ways to connect and attune. The more you align your rhythms and intent with her phases, the more you can augment energy shifts you are making in your life!
Engaging with moon's rhythms helps remind you of your own inner light.
It also connects you to the night sky and one of our planet’s beautiful allies, making your sense of the world bigger. It is one of my favorite ways of setting my intent for aligning, releasing, and receiving.
The first step is to notice moon’s rhythms. The second is to connect your intent with these rhythms.
When it is waxing—like right now—set your intent to grow something in your life. When it is full, connect with your own inner light and the light of others. When it is waning, use that energy to release and let go of a particular energy. When moon is dark, rest in your potential. After a while of doing this, your body will draw you outside, almost of its own volition, to help you come
into resonance with moon.
Here's a way to work with her:
When the moon is waxing (for about two weeks, from new moon to full—right now), go outside and connect your belly, heart, and third eye with the growing moon. Set your intent that something you are growing in your life (a project, an idea, a baby) draws power from the moonlight’s growth. Use the growing moon to remind yourself each night of what you are
growing.
When the moon is full, swallow its light. Use the practice of Feeding the Full Moon Web of Light with your radiance.
When the moon is waning (for about two weeks, from full to dark), go outside and connect with moon. Set your intent to release something you are ready to let go of. Use the diminishing moonlight each night to remind yourself of what you are releasing.
When the moon is dark (three nights), let yourself rest in the potential that abides in darkness. See the dark as fruitful and nourishing, like a womb. Let this darkness also remind you that all energy has a rhythm of darkness as well as light.
Latest Blog: Soul Loss, Remembering, and Healing
The more I see potential long-term trauma at the border, the more my heart breaks. I have an adopted daughter, and I know firsthand how hard it has been for her to come to terms with the loss, rejection, insecurity, and invisibility that arises when a family has let you go.
Now there are children around the world—in Syria, Central America, Africa, and so many other places—whose parents are doing their best to choose life, and are being thwarted by walls, wars, economic instability, and plain meanness.
I was inspired to write about soul remembering and healing because there is so much need. Soul loss due to trauma is little understood—and often unacknowledged—by western therapeutic traditions. The more we become aware of issues of the soul, and normalize our perception of soul loss, the more we can heal ourselves, our family constellations, and our
world.

Summertime Shamanic Inspiration
Shamanism is not only the most ancient tradition on Earth, it also offers inclusive, diverse, and non-religious teachings, embodying wisdom
streams from every lineage around the world.
Learning shamanic ways helps you enter into a deeper, more sacred relationship with all life, contributing towards lasting healing and transformation.
It's a way to meet your guides and helpers—whose presence you may have sensed in your dreams or in nature—who can help you create a life of meaning and purpose. Shamanism is full of ceremony for blessing, healing, and opening those who participate in them.
I have met and worked with many of the teachers interviewed in this summit, and deeply respect them. Over the years I've also learned to follow my heart when signing up for shamanic workshops. When I haven't—when I've
been drawn to some idea rather than looking at the person who was offering the work—my experience has been less than stellar. So these free interviews give you an opportunity to listen with your heart before you commit to something more.
Starts July 9.
My latest good read: The Soul of an Octopus: A Surprising Exploration into the Wonder of Consciousness by Sy Montgomery. As we open and let ourselves experience the intelligence, humor, and wisdom possessed by other species, our connection with the living universe grows. This sweet book takes you into the world of four octopus befriended by the author, and expands your sense of the
possible.
